Our dental practice already operated to world-class infection control standards.
But during the global Covid-19 pandemic, we have been working hard to understand this new disease and how we can safely see you again.
We are using procedures that exceed those advised by the regulatory bodies.
Some of the additional measures we've invested in to keep you safe include:
- Enhanced PPE for Dr Smith and all the practice team
- Glass screens on our reception desk to limit contact with the reception staff
- Installation of air purification units in the surgery and waiting rooms
- Installation of air conditioning in the surgery.
- Monitoring of the air quality in the Practice .
Preparing for your visit
Your experience will be different but safe.
Here are some guidelines to help with that:
- Please arrive at your appointment time to help us ensure that there is only one person in the waiting room at any time
- Please try and use your bathroom at home before you come to minimise the use of our toilet
- Please come on your own unless you need a carer or parent to accompany you
- Please wear a face covering.
On arrival
- Sarah or Jane will take your temperature using a forehead thermometer
- They will also use a measuring device on your finger to measure oxygen in your blood
- Both these procedures are non-invasive and pain-free. They help us minimise the likelihood of someone with Covid-19 being treated at the surgery
- You will be asked to pay for your treatment beforehand to minimise contact with reception. Please use contactless payment methods if possible
- Sarah or Jane will then take you to the waiting room upstairs. Please put your belongings in the clear box provided
- When you are called to the surgery, please bring the box with you and keep your face covering on until asked to remove it.
Post treatment
- Please put your face covering back on
- Take your belongings from the box and leave the surgery without visiting reception again
- If you need a follow up appointment, we will send this to you via email, text or letter
- As usual, we clean all surfaces between patients.
We appreciate that all these procedures might feel daunting, but please be reassured that we are doing everything we can to keep you safe.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need additional reassurance.
We don't want anyone to be in pain and are working hard to ensure everyone gets the care and treatment they need.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
With best wishes from,
Dr Smith and the dental surgery team
